Who we serve
The Caminando Juntos: Accompanying Rural and Small-Town Ministry Leaders project at MACC seeks to strengthen and expand the rural and small-town ministry outreach and formation within 12 Roman Catholic dioceses throughout Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Missouri.
How we support rural congregations and ministry leaders
Collaborating with diocesan leaders in the region will allow us to share strategies and programs for macro-scale pastoral planning, implementation, and ministry formation. Our vision is to foster greater awareness of the multicultural dynamics present in rural areas, with a special focus on engaging young adults and supporting lay ministry. We are supporting rural congregations through the following actions:
- Convening and supporting a regional network of diocesan leaders serving in rural and small-town ministries.
- Offering and helping diocesan leaders find or create formation programs to address pastoral needs, including Hispanic ministry, young adult leadership, and lay leadership formation.
- Collaborating with dioceses and national leaders to create or expand outreach programs for rural parishes that may have limited resources.
- Building capacity for pastoral leaders at different levels and fostering multicultural engagement in rural and small-town ministries.
